POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Reinforcing Steel Estimator

Position Summary:
Primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service through the estimation and sale of structural steel projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Research and identify new reinforcing steel project bids.
2. Calculate bid components including material cost, labor cost, engineering cost, delivery cost, and profit to ensure maximum return.
3. Contract all buy-out material, detailing and erection (if any) for projects.
4. Review current product inventories and item pricing and adjust as necessary to ensure approved margins are met.
5. Review previous/current projects to make bid changes and updates as needed.
6. Assist walk-in and telephone customers with product/project needs.
7. Visit customer offices and job sites as necessary to establish and maintain good customer relationships and assist in the problem solving.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Must be able to read
2. Must have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
3. Must have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with contractors, superiors, and internal department.
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelors or Associates Degree is construction, management, engineering or a closely related field.
2. 2-3 years experience as an estimator or project manager in the construction industry required.
Physical Demands:
Primarily office work together with outside site visits. Some lifting in excess of 25 pounds required.
Normal Work Schedule:
Typically five (5) day work week; will need to attend occasional out of town training program. Responsible for various site visits as necessary. To excel in our industry may entail more than 40 hours of work per week.
Work Environment:
Office environment with regular visits to customer offices, jobsites and internal production areas.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Foot and head protection as required by individual jobsite; none in office.
